Africa Pre-Mortem · The scope

Africa Pre-Mortem · CHF 1,900

Picture the project eighteen months from now. It has failed. We tell you why while the budget is still yours.

Scope
One idea or market-entry plan in one African market.
From you
The deck or plan, and a short questionnaire.
We test
Demand, willingness to pay, distribution, payments, power and signal, trust, regulation, local rivals and unit costs.
You receive
Each credible failure ranked, the cheapest test for it, and a verdict: proceed, change, pause or stop.
Delivery
5 business days. A 45-minute readout is CHF 300.

AI Feasibility · The scope

Africa AI Feasibility Assessment · CHF 2,900

One workflow, one country, up to ten hours of senior time. You leave with a decision you can defend to a board.

From you
Sample inputs you may share, and one person who knows the workflow.
You receive
A recommendation to build, narrow, test further or stop. An architecture outline showing where a person stays in control. A risk record and a readout.
Delivery
10 business days. Two assessments a month at most.

Adoption Fit · The scope

Adoption Fit Study · CHF 4,900

Rollouts in Africa rarely fail on code. Staff keep the paper register because it protects them. Customers trust the agent they know.

Scope
One solution, one country, one user group.
From you
Introductions to five staff, partners or users for 45-minute remote interviews.
We look at
Trust, language, devices, data costs, how approvals really move, and who loses status if things change.
You receive
A friction map, the weakest behaviour assumptions, rollout changes and a small adoption pilot.
Delivery
15 business days. Surveys and fieldwork are quoted separately.

Second Opinion · The scope

Proposal Second Opinion · CHF 1,200

We read the proposal as a seasoned technical buyer would, including what it costs in year two and what happens when the network drops.

Scope
One proposal or tender response, up to 40 pages.
You receive
A memo on unsupported claims, recurring costs, lock-in and local fit, with the questions to put to the vendor.
Delivery
3 business days. We take no vendor commissions.

Our approach & a sample brief

Where assessments usually start

“We are still typing this in by hand.”

Requests arrive in French, English and whatever the scanner produced. We test whether a tool can draft a usable record and which fields still need a person. Sometimes the fix is a better form.

“The pin is right. The rider still cannot find it.”

Riders work from directions like “behind the blue church”. We test what your location data resolves and where a person must confirm. Bwendi, our own location layer, is one option we compare.

“The answer is in our documents. Somewhere.”

It sits in a 2019 PDF, in two languages. We test whether search finds the approved source, who may see it, and what the tool says when nothing answers.

AI, without the fog

Every assessment asks where AI could help, then tests it against the plain options. When a database query or a clear rule wins, we recommend that.

Inside the assessment

A sample brief for a hypothetical service team in Cameroon. No client data.

OSIH / Decision briefIllustrative

From an incoming message
to a reviewable service request.

Country: Cameroon · Languages: French / English · Sample

Working question
Could a draft record cut retyping while a dispatcher stays responsible?
Sample input
“Besoin d'un technicien vendredi, près du marché.” Which Friday? Which market?
Boundary
Extract what is stated and flag what is missing. Never invent an address or dispatch a technician.
Checks
Correct fields, invented details, mixed-language messages and cost per reviewed request.
Possible outcomes
A draft-only trial, a simpler form, better inputs first, or no build.

When it is time to build

Implementation runs at CHF 300/hour in prepaid blocks, each with a scope, a cap and acceptance criteria. Running costs are agreed before launch. Travel and third-party costs are extra. There is no retainer.

Where we work

Based in Bern. Our delivery depth is in Cameroon, with a network across Nigeria, Zambia, South Africa, Kenya, Côte d’Ivoire and Senegal. Bwendi and Equiterrain show the thinking in practice.

How an engagement starts

  1. Choose a service.
  2. Pay online.
  3. Send your brief. NDA first, if you want one.
  4. Receive the answer in writing.

The fee stands whatever the answer, including stop. Custom work starts with a brief and a fixed proposal.

Questions

Can we have a call first?

Yes, once the work is commissioned.

Why pay before the work starts?

With a fixed scope and fee, we can start the day you pay. Fees are non-refundable. See the engagement terms.

Can a board, investor or funder commission it?

Yes. The report goes to whoever commissions it unless we agree otherwise. You need permission to share the project documents.

Can we have an NDA?

Yes. Tick the box at checkout and we sign it before you share anything confidential. Need your own NDA signed first? Email us.

Do you give legal advice?

No. We advise on technology, data and adoption, and we tell you when you need a local lawyer.

Will you tell us not to use AI?

Yes, when the data or the cost does not support it.

Do we need a retainer?

No. Each engagement stands on its own.

AI first. People always.

The more AI there is,
the more human judgement is worth.

Models are cheap now. Knowing which road floods in August, who really approves the payment and when to stop a project still takes a person.
